Liverpool sponsors Carlsberg have aimed a hilarious dig at former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson following Liverpool’s title triumph on Sunday.
The Reds secured their 20th league crown at the weekend, as they came from a goal down to trash Tottenham Hotspur 5-1.
The win didn’t just end Manchester City’s four-year dominance in the league.
It also ensured that they moved level with the Red Devils for the most league titles won by an English club (20).
The win also put Liverpool three ahead of their fierce rivals for the most major titles won by an English team.
Simply put, Liverpool are the No.
team in England.
The title was Liverpool’s second in five years, after the class of 2020 won with Jürgen Klopp.
While Liverpool has continued to thrive in the last few years, United have not won the Premier League since 2012/13, which also marked the final season in charge for their legendary manager, Ferguson.
Ferguson famously named his biggest challenge as United manager as “knocking Liverpool right off their f***ing perch,” having overtaken the Merseyside club as the most successful side in England during his reign.
But Liverpool have officially retaken their place as England’s best, and one of the club’s sponsors made sure Ferguson knew it.
Carlsberg, the official beer of Liverpool Football Club, posted a picture on X, with Ferguson’s famous quote, followed by the caption, “We Printed It.”
Calberg have had a long-standing partnership with the club, beginning in 1992 when they became the front-of-shirt sponsor.
The partnership has been extended multiple times, most recently in 2023 for another 10 years, making it the longest-running sponsorship in Premier League history?
While they were initially the shirt sponsor, they have since become the club’s official beer.
